Please read the following instructions and terms and fill out the form below if you agree to the terms.

You are a resident of Ohio. (Must be a resident for 45 days prior to submission of your application for a license.)

You are, or will be 21 years of age by the first day of class.

You are not, nor have ever been a felon

You are not aware of any outstanding arrest warrants for you.

You are not currently under any form of a government issued restraining or protection order.

Acceptable handguns are double action revolvers and semi-automatic pistols.

Handguns can be provided by MOFTA for a small rental fee if/when arranged prior to class.

Minimum acceptable caliber is 38 and/or 9mm. 44 magnums are not acceptable without prior approval by MOFTA.

DO NOT bring any handguns, or any other type firearm to the first class session.

Due to range requirements for special ammunition, ammunition will be supplied by MOFTA at the students cost.   The recommended 150 rounds will cost approximately $45.00 to $65.00 depending on the caliber.

DO NOT bring any ammunition to any of the classroom sessions. If you do not understand this statement, please contact MOFTA prior to class.

You must have a holster and belt. A "Concealment" type holster is preferred, and you should have a minimum of two extra magazines, speed loaders and/or speed strips (for revolvers). Hand loading revolvers, one shell at time will not be acceptable for MOFTA classes.

You should have good, clean eye and ear protection for the range sessions.

Class room sessions are Monday through Thursday, 6:00 - 9:30 PM.

Range session is Saturday during the day.  your 4-hour window will be assigned in class.

Attendance to all classroom and range sessions is required.

There will be an open book written exam on information covered in the classroom sessions.

You must pass the exam with a 70%, and Pass the range qualification course to receive your Competency Certificate

MOFTA's Basic Concealed Carry Training is designed to meet the criteria for the individual successfully completing the course to qualify for, and satisfy the "Competency" requirements of the State of Ohio Concealed Handgun License application.

MOFTA's Basic Concealed Carry Training covers handgun fundamentals, functions, safety, handling, transporting and storage. It covers ammunition types, caliber, safety & storage. Many concealment styles and holsters will be demonstrated and reviewed. Sight alignment, grip, trigger control and shooting stances, along with loading, unloading, speed & tactical reloads (both revolver and semi-auto) and malfunction drills will be practiced. Drawing from holsters & re-holstering, along with garment (concealment) clearing, will be practiced. Class minimum size is 10 students, with 15 being the maximum class size. All classes are open for public enrollment.

 

MOFTA's fee for the Basic Concealed Carry Training course is $160.00 per student. A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to secure a seat in class. We limit the class to 15-students and they do fill up.  We operate on a first-come first-serve basis.  The balance is due at the beginning of the first day of class, in cash, check, money order, or credit card. Disclaimer - Although MOFTA's courses are taught by NRA certified Instructors and an instructor certified by the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission, which complies with the requirements of the law, MOFTA's Basic Concealed Carry Class in not a NRA certified course. Ohio's law does not require the course to be an NRA certified course to comply, however the NRA does require their instructors to make this disclaimer anytime they are teaching a non NRA certified course. MOFTA's Basic Concealed Carry Class does fully comply with Ohio's requirements for competency certification.
